Michael C. Craven concentrates his practice to family law matters, representing clients in all areas of family law cases including child custody, property division, visitation, child support, domestic violence, paternity and the preparation of prenuptial and postnuptial Agreements. He draws on his previous work experiences in public accounting as a Certified Public Accountant and as a tax attorney to negotiate and litigate complex financial issues in child custody and matrimonial cases. Michael handles complex divorce cases, especially those with financial issues such as valuing and tracing assets.
Michael was recently approved to serve as a mediator in divorce cases in the Circuit Court of Cook County Illinois, Domestic Relations Division, for both child-related and financial disputes. In Cook County, divorce and other family law cases are handled by the judges of the Domestic Relations Division. The requirements to being a court-certified mediator in the Cook County Domestic Relations Division include submission of a written application that is reviewed and approved by Cook County’s Domestic Relations’ Division Mediator Screening Committee and completion of a minimum of 40 hours of approved mediation training. After completing this process, Michael is now a court-certified mediator.
